The Words of a Kiss

The Words of a Kiss

A Poem by LSS
"

So much is said with so few words.

"

The Words of a Kiss

The words of a kiss

   are ancient they say.

They’re spoken moments

   they act out a play.

Each tender small touch

   each moment sublime,

speaks volumes in verse,

   in prose, and in rhyme.

They cannot be counted

   by clocks on the wall.

Nor is there measure

   not great or not small.

Each one is a concert

   in passions bright room.

They each sing their own song;

   some joy and some doom.

I remember the first days

   when talk was all cheap,

when climbing a mountain

  was but a small leap.

The days passed in plenty

   the years rolled on by,

yet ever that lip song

   still lets out his sigh.

Though often our troubles,

   our worries, our pain,

will insert a barrier

   where love had once lain.

Then still waits a new song

   with words just the same.

A gentle soft answer

   my kiss is its name.

It waits in the evening,

   it waits in the morn.

To start up and speak out,

   my love to adorn.

This is beautiful. The rhythm is superb and the flow is excellent. Mostly when I read poetry that wasn't written like a hundred years ago, I tend not to like it as much, but yours is definitely one of the few that I actually enjoy! Some people don't really care about meter or flow anymore, but this is truly a masterpiece. Good job.

A beautiful poem. In my life. I remember the first kisses and the long walks. These are the real gifts given for the sake of love and friendship. I like the gentle and beautiful story in your words. A excellent poem. Your words are true.

Wow, this was absolutely amazing. I enjoyed reading this mainly because it was true and passionate and beautiful and all the good things about life. The rhyme scheme was perfect and this poem flowed very well. I really, truly enjoyed reading this and I'm glad that I did because it brought a smile to my face. Great job!!!

The meter seems pretty good to me, but more important is the wisdom of your words. You are one who has lived and loved, learned of life's sweetest moments, and it shows.

Thank you for reviewing "Teach Me To Whisper" and providing a bridge for me to travel to yours. It's no accident that I call it a bridge. In reading this poem, I felt as if I were infused with a refreshing river with crystalline sparkles in the noonday sun. Your words are truly infused with light, the dancing decadence of words that flow as freely as a river in spring. It's beautiful!

This is a truly delightful poem! it has fine meter and flows beautifully.. i've read it twice, once aloud, and found it both smooth and velvety in the mind and ears.

The feelings you write about are centred around an old-fashioned kind of sweet, gentle love, which makes such a change from the overlay of sensuous stuff (I write it too, not condemning)

' Then still waits a new song / with words just the same. / A gentle soft answer / my kiss is its name. '

Thank you so much for sharing.

"That lip song...lets out his sigh...Waiting in the evening...in the morn...My love to adorn" This is fabulous imagery, L (name?)! The brevity and crispness of the line length bespeaks the simple, pure joy we all feel in the anticipation and execution of the Kiss...And your meter is dead-on, which is so refreshing, compared to much that I've read here. I would frefer you to "markymark', "c. froman" and "rick puetter" for others who feel and write as we do. Thanks for restoring my faith!
