Success

Success

A Poem by Free Writer

I'm the one that listens

And I'm the one that studies

You blow off all your works

To hang with all your buddies

You don't seem to mind

You don't seem to care

And when you get in trouble

You say it isn't fair

You call me a nerd

Just for being smart

But I'll be able to move on

For listening from the start

You still goof off

And learn lesser and lesser

You can be the failure

But I'll be the successor

Ha. Good sentiment - I totally agree with you. There's one problem, however: "lesser and lesser" doesn't really work. I understand that you're trying to get the rhyme in (I like the last two lines very much, by the way) but you need to think of something else. The way it is now, the "lesser and lesser" line throws off the whole poem. Such an obvious grammatical mishap kind of weakens the argument that you're trying to make in the poem. There are other things that rhyme with "successor" that could work: transgressor, oppressor... you could probably do something with one of those. Good luck!
