The Cycle

The Cycle

A Poem by abluehorseandflowers

The Cycle

Discontent

Life’s good
Have ambitions
What’s wrong?

Discontent
I suffer
my desires
I feel lost

Justification

How do
I give
Into the urge?

Justification
I want
I need
I must

Remorse

Just one
Just two
Too many

Remorse
Not again
Poor me
Where’s a rope?

Desperation

Not dead
Failed again
What now?

Desperation
Please God
Help me
I am lost

Reconciliation

Loved ones
I’ve hurt
Grown distant

Reconciliation
We’re healing
Making right
Wrongs I’ve done

Atonement

Practicing compassion
For myself
And others

Atonement
I’m you
You’re me
God is One

The Cycle

And so
It goes
Once more

The Cycle
Return
To Discontent
And begin again
