A bucket of dirt

A bucket of dirt

A Poem by SiobhanC

Just writing, just to write.

Nothing is right, nothing is wrong.

Stuck. Stuck in a hole unable to reach the top.

Going to have to really think about how to get out. No taking the cowards way out, regardless of how weak you think you are. Gotta find a way. Mind over matter. I’m sure I could envisage a solution if I only thought about it enough.

Got to stop being lazy. No need to lay around all day awaiting the inevitable. It’ll definitely happen if you let it.

I can do this. I can escape this hole.

Even if it gets dug deeper down.

Further, further.

I can escape. Let someone help you. Call for help. Ask. Listen to those calling out for you. They are there for you. They are. Let them give you a bucket of dirt to help fill the hole.

They could give you a ladder but the hole will still be there. You need to fill it.

Let them help. They want to help.

You don’t have to be so strong and independent all the time. It’s okay sometimes to not be the strongest. I know you don’t want to but for the right people, it’s okay.

Not for him.

He’ll only take out buckets of dirt.

He’ll make the hole deeper and deeper.

Don’t lose sight of the light shining down. Keep your smile facing the sun.

You’ll get there.

You will.

Everyone can. With the right attitude.

And letting people pass you some more dirt.
