There's Me

There's Me

A Poem by Ariel
"

A man laments about the love he's lost, the chances he's wasted, and the life he ruined long ago.

"
I saw you sitting by the lovely lake,
With quiet tears in your emerald eyes.
You were sighing quietly your dreams away,
And trying to forget the past.
But it's not that easy when it doesn't last.

I found you many a day later,
Broken up among the stone path.
I bent to lend out a hand with a weary smile
And welcoming hope in my stormy eyes.
But yet again, you saw the lies.

And months later, in the falling snow
I spied you across the way.
Eyes and ears closed to the wind,
You couldn't hear me cry to you,
Oh, how I loved you and wished to start anew.

And now, the years have withered by like weeds,
And we're both grey and old.
Oh, how our lives have dwindled to nothing.
I miss you still as I see you without any love.

And as the dead leaves fall, I kick them,
Lost in my faded wonderings and dreams.
I hate myself and lament over us.
I always wanted to tell you, scream to you,
That there was me...

I would always love you.
