Turn Off My Phone (And Be With You)

Turn Off My Phone (And Be With You)

A Poem by Sean William Russell Smith

my head is full of noise
I need to find that silence
the stillness of your joy
to be here with you
there is little that i need
remove all distractions
delight in what you bring

so i turn off my phone and be with you

i cut the chord and pull the plug
the real connection is in your love
i miss your signal when the power is on
but in your lovin' is where i belong

i'm always indoors
i want my toes to feel
some natural floors
with beautiful landscapes
that only you can paint
it's something a screen just
can't imitate

so i turn off my phone and be with you

i need some time uninterrupted

because power lines
are tangling the life that i wish i lead
but i'm too scared to pull the plug
and satellites
hover all around and i wish i would
lose service but i don't enough
i give these apps permission to track
every single move i make
i know - it's kind of weird
living in this world where everything is monitored
it's everything that george orwell feared

but i have no fear with you

so i turn off my phone and be with you
