The End of My Universe

The End of My Universe

A Poem by Michael G. Smith
"

No more poetic inspiration.

"

The ends of verse
Are the fruits which wither down
As a fish off the line, out of water

Likened to the thirst of ideas

Deprived of oxygen they drown

In the ends of verse

Words no longer tend

To form or touch parch lips

Nor electrify wet blackened pens

Hollow once quick quips

The flaming spirit

Has been withdrawn
The fire touch once prodding

Sparking thoughts to life
And the pendulum out of sync when swinging

Skipping heartbeats simply beyond rhyme

Merely yearning is not enough

Quintessential is the need for acting
Upon passions and necessitous prides

when dreams awake and realities sleep

And eyes can be open ever wide

Why now set about

To cloak a universe in starless

Wipe away the canvas sky

And more in moonless

Let slow motion within the nights

Oh, my Lord am I not a vessel

A portion of thy essence

Then, why withdraw my writes
Bridle the divinity lesson
The poetry; miracles of light

I am at the end...

Of my own universe

A river damned, a river cursed

One which once flowed freely

Through a fallacious man and mind

Heartfelt prayer. It's good to be reminded where our talents are from. We are but vessels. Thanks for this, Mike! :x

my pleasure.. sometimes if it was not for friends pointing out my type's I would be lost.. xo
Not a vessel, but an instrument... a talent for writing, to inspire, uplift, amuse... a gift of God for sure.
