Admission for One

A Poem by Nina

I've been on this ledge for 15 years
Reality gurgles as if I've drowned
Like the ocean I rush to kiss the earth
To come crashing down
Shards in an iridescent slow-motion
Each one a memory I long for
Screaming the way that I came out
And ending abruptly like a puff of smoke
Sadness is obsucurity is danger
Like cigarette to a wildfire to grief
If I ever will
Like I never was
If I ever could
Like I never had
If I could burn all the way down
To light the universe for one moment
And be forgotten forever after
I'd finally tilt forward.
