Daphne Daffodil~

She took a misstep

her toes became a thousand branches of roots

seeking purple poppies in the deep mud

on his back, a landscape for an artist’s thorn dipped in ochre

under her ground a velvet display of ruby moss

breathing clouds upward through the trail of torn tendons

balloons to tether at the graceful bend of a wrist on display

in the glass structure of a blood tulip

How did the apple find her core

pierced with hungry bones

skeletal love against a splash of burning sky

my canvas over the side of a boat sailing the tall spires

of a city in motion

my picture in a window frame

washed away in pearl drops with the rain

down the side

of a leaning monument

Reborn amidst a rubble of pebbles

the princess picked the peas with care

round the maypole gray of a carousel elephant’s unmoving pain

disjointed by music

a teapot clown dipping bags of jasmine leaves

inside his brewing exaggerated smile

she slipped her brocade

her bra

under a neon bulb

where her bones illuminated flight

When the eyelids are peeled back

the brain’s press is onyx

and no scalpel

no nimble surgeon hands

could ever cut these dreams

from her lobes

for she is the detached conundrum

of a thousand philosophers

bending through eons

to discover

the fluid flex

of Daphne Daffodil

who strips

a thousand pupils from their base

her tips in iris gems

scattered at the altar

of another strobing night

a meter sideways

of Casino glare

where the ocean washes out the magik

each dawn

and everyone puts their eyes back in

their lies back in

and continue on . . . .

I felt like I was reading a poem through a kaleidoscope, this was colorful and crystalline and just off center enough that it was fairy tale like in nature, the kind that seem so magical but at the core is this little ball of reality that causes an uneasiness....I am thinking that uneasiness is the truth. You never fail to impress.

probably My most loved piece you have written ..I cannot fault a thing ..as If I was really looking to fault it...it reads like a prosaic short flash fiction....and that My dear is where you have always excelled...Bellisimo

I swear, I kinda felt like their reality was the dream and you were telling us of the dream that was in truth the reality. Did that even make sense? *shrug*
It was the ending that made me feel that way. That moment where these men indulge themselves in her beauty--their true desire. But in the end, they place on those onyx-colored contacts and pretend the life they live is what they truly dream of.
I don't know. You have my head spinning with this pixie pixelated daffodil you've sculpted through words. No complaints. I love when your works do that to me. Hence, the fact that I always come back.

With each and every offering you take my breath away!

No one and I mean no one writes like you.

Your prismatic vision and understanding of the layers of a human being connected to each branch of the Tree is extraordinary.

and everyone puts their eyes back in

their lies back in

and continue on .

Beautiful imagery and dreams pour from the veins of this. I felt every emotion, saw every thought, felt every touch. Simply brilliant!

the abstract of a dream.
these lines in particular... cant shake them
'She took a misstep
her toes became a thousand branches of roots
seeking purple poppies in the deep mud'
and
'for she is the detached conundrum
of a thousand philosophers
bending through eons
to discover
the fluid flex
of Daphne Daffodil'

As always your thoughts, your emotions, your words, your gift of brilliance stop me dead in my tracks as I inhale the wonder of your pen.
And it only took a single moment of a genius strike, bleeding ink as only you can !!

Many facets of images here...grabbing the reader from one scene
to the next, and we the readers become part of the words in a bloodied
mess.

Liking..."each dawn

and everyone puts their eyes back in

their lies back in

and continue on . . . ."
love the descriptives inbetween as well...

You are a human sponge of senses. No one looks through the mind's eye as you do. Each picture reflected into your mind becomes lightning bugs bouncing around a jar to come out for the next work of literary art. If the reader could take in all that goes on in your cranium, their would surely explode. Great work princess.
