Invisible Man

Invisible Man

Invisible Man

Am I invisible?

Or am I just fine

I’ve noticed

 I’m being unnoticed

Is it all just in my mind?

Your disrespect is detectable

Am I misreading the signs?

Overlooked and under-appreciated

Maybe you’re the one who’s blind.

Not seeing me for who I am

And keeping my light confined

But hiding a star in the dark

Will only increase its shine

There are too many who are unseen

Disregarded and ignored

I hope they heed my transparency

And these words strike a chord

Because the world is full of ghosts

With their heads in the sand

A visual all too visible

Only seen by an invisible man

This was a wonderful read. Very well written and I read it several times - it struck home for me. The feeling and sincerity jumped out at me. "Not seeing me for who I am/And keeping my light confined/But hiding a star in the dark/Will only increase its shine" - beautiful and simple. Well done my friend!

thank you Pax!
Really so nice poem! I love the theme of "invisibility", as many people feel like that, maybe in some respect everyone is invisible to others, as they are too much obsessed by their own world and ego. This poem shows in so good way exactly that relation, but God is who see all...We have to understand others, and try to relate their world with our and to compare, as we are all the same in our big "differences". I loved that:
But hiding a star in the dark
Will only increase its shine

i agree

thank u Sugar Plum!
I feel invisible sometime. Seem we are living like cattle. Living and dying without reason and purpose. Being invisible is a two sided coin. Better to be a ghost than marching with the dead in heart and in mind. Thank you for the outstanding poetry. Made me think this morning.

" hidding a star in the dark, will only increase its shine" - fantastic!!! When you have a chance, take a look at my poem, The Plague- has similar tone- speaks of narcissism. Thanks for sharing!

I like the way this meandered between light and dark. Who sees the man too visible to see...the invisible one, that's who! Great imagery.

thank you anonymous!
Your words have an incredible amount of depth and beauty to them. I know these words ring true for so many people. There are so many amazing personalities out there who are overlooked by others because they do not fit exactly into the mold of what other people want them to be.

These lines in particular-

"But hiding a star in the dark
Will only increase its shine"

- I found very inspiring. Keep writing; this poem is truly inspired.
