The Fall

The Fall

A Story by James Gingrich

Imagine Falling, not to your death…..sadly. Just falling indefinitely without end. The fall is said to have an end but it never comes. Darkness surrounds as you fall deeper. Yet if this darkness begins to dissipate you are scared without it. The accumulation to it has become normalcy. Without it the fall becomes scarier more varied and full of new fears. So you stay in the darkness to keep the fall bearable. Survival in the darkness is no longer a choice. For the fall worries you less as you choose to survive the darkness, for the darkness is known and the rest of the fall is not. Now the darkness which was a prison, is now your home. Do you escape your home? Could you even escape it if you wanted?
