The Star that Burned

The Star that Burned

A Poem by wolfie

She brushed her lips with velvet soft petals
the tickling sensation bruising her mind
It kept her thinking of a boy she used to love
A boy who would sing until she melted to puddles
She finally opened her palm
The flowers fell on gravel
The gravel led to her heart
Wired among those veins
the ticking never loomed on silence
Only occasionally did the beat hesitate
it always revived
Just like the vibrato of his chords
It could rise like twin balloons
or it could merge with sea and sink a ship
He left with a solo
She swayed away in a swing
When he looked back
he watched a star burn
She never glanced behind
with just a couple of memories of him
she could imagine what could of been
She had let go of her rose
she stepped over those boundaries
He was the one who left
she wasn't going to stay
He wanted to sing along with the blues
She decided to try her hand at it too
Just not in blues
Her voice bled with guitar
raged with the drums
In sweaty palms the mic fell
All that was left was applause
That's what this has led to
A girl on fire
new lyrics
a brand new tune

It was going to be fine day
