The Window to the Soul

The Window to the Soul

A Poem by Darian B.
"

Poem of two worlds and two perspectives

"
Let me open my windows Let me open my windows
To tell this story So as to let you live my life
A single pillow About a boy who loved Nintendo's
No warmth anticipatory Because they hid him from his strife

Her soul is empty I know that love's the strongest pow'r
Not an ounce of love That ever did lace the earth
It never felt heavy I saw it in a lovely flow'r
It fit the glove Who restored all, of my self-worth

This soul is alone In a time when no one cared
It has no mate She took the time to do so
Down to the bone A woman who actually dared
Bound to frustrate To ease my once- troubled woe

It's so dark A soul once lost, yet found again
Not a touch of light   Through selfless love unbounded
Where is that spark? I now feel safe to leave my den
Where is her knight? She still leaves me dumbfounded

Feels so cold Matchless love, though it may be
No warmth in this bed I try to return the favor
She's either bold She must know, she set me free
Or gone in the head So my whole heart is what I gave her

Now she's lost A broken man, a wounded sire
Cannot be found Was graced by love, a maiden fair
A heart of frost A heart, now full inside of fire
Lies on the ground Flies once again, up in the air
So now you see?
Our world grows old
Don't you believe?
A heart is gold
These eyes before you
Lead to the soul
What they show is true
They tell our role

Author's Note

Darian B.
This was created by a joined effort by Jo Moerke and myself. He came up with the theme having to do with the eyes being a window to our soul and so we created a dual perspective, one as his and one as mine. Be sure to check out his profile http://www.writerscafe.org/michaelagames

This is really great, the two of you did an awesome job. If feel like there is a relationship in the poem. It seems a little one sided though. Its like the guy on one side feels love, but the girl on the other feels nothing. The last stanza is very revealing, but also a bit of a shock. It gives the rest of the poem meaning.

I loved reading this. Your styles complimented one another. I've never read a collaborative poem before, so I'm glad I read this. Great job.

It was so absolutely awesome writing this with you and I'm glad we could share the experience. Once we see how this turns out, maybe we will do it again in the future? I hope so :)
