For mom

Summer breeze kissed away your tears

I watched for what seemed like hours

inquiring of the hummingbirds

questioning all the flowers

conversing with the lilacs

to the orchids I confessed

I held a butterfly in my palm

and prayed you might be blessed

I deliberated with the Susan's

reflected on the rose

I wanted to tell you how I felt

but somehow my words froze

I cried to the hydrangeas

among the daffodils I stood

telling secrets to forget-me-not s

and wondering if you would

A lovely bittersweet read. I love that iti is open to multiple interpretations. In my case reading it I visualized a cemetary in the Bronx whre I have stood trying to say things to my father but I could just as easily imagine peole thinking about nursing homes or the homes they grew up in. We all have those things we need to say but somehow cannot.

My aunt just died from Alzheimers two years ago so this is so scary.. thank you for reading Red.. xo
Beautifully written, Rose. I think nature understands us when we have sorrows being released through tears, joys shared in song, or we need our soul grounded by that earthly connection on Mother Nature can provide. I enjoyed this very much.
My mom's been gone for 30+ years and those solo walks in the woods or mountains definitely help me feel closer as I chat with my guardian angel :)

You draw hope and inspiration from the beauty of nature all around you and this indeed is a great stimulating tonic for anyone with the vision to appreciate it!

And you certainly do see the beauty and appreciate it through this visually inspired and crafted poem !

A sad regretful write. I like the use of nature, flowers, as confessors

This is a tough thing, Shallimar. Seeing the beauty in the midst of it all is no small task. Burnout is very real, make sure to take time for yourself, walking and talking to the flowers is a great way to recharge. She is still your momma, you know. Hugs, Angi~

yes, thank you Angi...for reading.. yes, its mom so we just deal and do what we need to do.. xo
This is so beautiful, especially the way you use flowers to express yourself, personifying them as friends that you can pour out your troubles to even though you can no longer do so with your mother. I read what you wrote to Jacob and I'm sorry that your mother has the onset of Alzheimer's disease. Stay strong beside her during this trying time no matter how hard it gets because she loves you whether she remembers or not, and it's clear that you love her. It has been my experience with my husband's grandfather that people become tired of his aggression and hostility, and then they become bitter. Keep in mind that it's not her fault that she has aged, but the fault of time. Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem. It's a reminder of the fragility of life.

At times we all retreat inside and have a private "talk" with our selves. Some use the quiet and secluded space of a garden, a park, a seawall at 3 AM, a kitchen table at 1 AM...

Good rhythm and flow.
