Days Don't Return

Days Don't Return

A Poem by Shalini Dinesh (Poet's World)

As I sat there looking at the waves,
Thinking of olden days, my heart craves,
How I miss riding on a mare,
Looking at the waves, I just sat there.

Floating like a swan I once played,
With growing age energies fade,
Running behind waves as far as I can,
I once played floating like a swan.

I played digging the sand,
Dirtying my little hand,
Remembering the past, on sand I laid,
Digging the sand I played.

Playing with other kids, was so much fun,
Thinking of it bring joys a ton,
Of how we caught fish with squids,
It was so much fun playing with other kids.

Days don’t return but memories do,
Our eyesight fades and energies too,
So play while young for old you will turn,
For memories do but days don’t return.

this piece is great for so many reasons.

1. PACKED with emotion and longing. incredible

2. creative use of the gray scale in coloring the words to match the idea of the poem

3. the last stanza makes me want to cry

I simply loved it, the concept has been executed so brilliantly here. The emotions has been very well delivered along with the great rhyming scheme and the faded effect. Great work here!

"So play while young for old you will turn,
For memories do but days don’t return."

Isn't THAT the truth? Such wonderful and heartfelt memories you have penned Poet's World. I love this insightful poem a lot.

PS - love the use of gradients to accentuate the slow fade. Nice!

Interesting i dont myself like the quatrains in this manner or double rhymes in the same sentences Yet it is well done

You did a good job on the format and the fading effect to heightened the message in the poem. Overall its a rather sad poem but so very true.

Very good .. i like the format and the poem.
You wrote this well.
The poem itself is lovely though a bit sad.. not being able to do what one wants and
could do .. still it ends on a happy note.
