She

She

A Poem by heith.ash
"

In a world where you can be anything 'be yourself'.

"
Desperately wanting to be free ,
She was too stubborn to easily agree.

Always being cure to her pain,
She enjoyed dancing under the rain .

Had a bit of wild imagination ,
She watched the stars with adoration.

Books were an escape from reality,
She did it to maintain her sanity.

Whenever she got tired of life chasing ,
She would sit down sky gazing.

Sometimes loneliness would come and greet,
But she never needed anyone to make her complete.

Living her life with simplicity ,
She loved everyone with honesty.

Yet people being so judgemental ,
She was often called mental.

Where, everyone shed tears on something tragic,
She,being naive still believed in magic.

And when she got tired of people accusing her of being wrong,
She closed her eyes knowing she'd be rewarded for being strong.

this is so well put says i! it has a natural yet free rhythm .. you must be able to keep a beat eh!? ;) and the rhyming doesn't cheat ... avoids that border of trivial or trite ... couplets always form a strong peg to hang ones hat from .. nice job! the image of a woman, a delicate soul that knows how profound her strength is and why is rather stunning ... i flashed on my younger daughter a couple times when reading ... i think so many of life's aggression and conflict could be smooth out if we just knew ourselves in such honesty .. i am an optimist so really appreciate the positive closing ... your poem moves me to want to meet this particular "She" :)

Very nicely conveyed lines. Sounds like a gentle soul looking to escape the harsh realities of life. Reminds me of when I was about ten and before I came out of my shell. Lived in books and wrote stories. A good read.

ooh I truly love this! I relate to the line "books were an escape from reality," as I am often too caught up in my thoughts and prefer to spend my time in the world of books. I don't always like the reality...

Absolutely stunning, Heith!! The last few lines hit hard in the best most uplifting way, and I wish I could carry that feeling it gave me wherever I may end up.

Definitely one of my favorite poems on this site that I've read thus far - great work!
