I Understand

What I hid was certainly bad,

You can’t stop thinking, about what you should have had,

Every time you do, it keeps getting you mad,

This I understand, due to the situation with my dad,

 

The lie and secret I hid,

It’s what caused all of this,

That pain I can’t take away,

I can only hope it gets easier each day,

 

I didn’t know what or how to tell you,

I didn’t know what to say,

It seemed easier to keep if from you,

But that’s the mistake, which has us here today

 

Before I could feel, your feelings didn’t seem real

Didn’t know how to take it, didn’t know how to feel,

Now that I can, I feel human again,

I can feel your hurt, just wishing I could heal your pain,

 

Exposing the lie has turned our world upside down,

My minds in disarray, because love I finally allowed,

I care about things, I never felt before,

I now know what to say, these feeling I now can’t ignore,

 

I understand your feelings of anger,

Because to you I have been a stranger,

Secluded inside, alone there I resided,

My smile, it helped me hide,

 

You said I never loved you, you said I never cared,

I thought if that was the case, why did I not go anywhere,

I now understand, if love is this feeling I have now,

It’s different, from what I thought love would be, somehow,

 

You say if you were to stay, fear will consume,

That, I would not want for you,

I promise if you stay, I will treat you the right way,

I’ve learned and know now what to do,

 

Always let me know, what you need to be happy,

Continue to let me know, when I make you sad,

This I need to know, so I can properly love you so,

My goal, is to be the best lover you ever had,
