Crack a Grin

Crack a Grin

A Poem by Shayla Sayer
"

a smile that means nothing.

"

Crack a Grin

You smile, and I have to as well

The tears flow, but cannot be seen

The wounds heal, but continue to bleed

Success is only gained

Through another’s failure.

I sit here, instead

Stagnant and waiting

For my mask to crack

So I can fix it again"

I cling to a lie I created.

The happiness tastes stale

I must craft a new emotion

For the world to see… For the world to see…

For the world to believe is real.

I mold the clay"

Tears and dust"

And form my mask anew

Content, I sit back, adjust the fit,

And begin to smile at you.

Sounds a lot like co-dependency. Keep smiling and let them know nothing.

Such a darling little read. I truly believe this was brilliantly done. I have read words before and they make sense but this make sense on a whole new level. I especially liked the part "And form my mask anew" because it was just something that expressed how I feel. Just greatly penned.
