On The Edge Of Madness

On The Edge Of Madness

A Poem by Sheila Marie Carr

Going to the point of no return
Resting on the edge, the edge of a cliff
Seems frightening yet calming
Disillusions of thoughts, beliefs and ideas
Keeps you on the edge of madness
Slipping away into darkness
Shadows lurking behind you
While there are echos from the past
Haunting your mind
Yet on the brink of sanity
mentally and emotionally imbalanced within
Trying not to lose that sense of reality
That you have left
Your nerves are in a fragile state
Ready to shatter into pieces
While hanging on the edge
Distorted thoughts and images of reality
Whether sane or insane
Unconventional and peculliar within normal limits
Where do you turn to and how do you let go?
When you're hanging on the edge
The edge of madness.

Madness is deeply rooted within us all. Yet most of us are capable of redirecting it to a positive flow, while others sadly submit to its incoherent chaos. Nicely Done! :)

Thank you...the madness can be a power struggle when one doesn't have the outlet to redirect it.

So true and this is why so many falter...
Sheila, I wish I couldn't relate to your power and emotional poem, but I do. Too many times, I have found myself, here, tettering on the edge, waiting for that final nudge, to come, but it never does. I hope, you're no longer standing on this edge, but have come down. Thank you, Sheila, for sharing this poem, with us.

Your welcome, Sheila. And am grateful, you're not on the edge, anymore.
