Was it love?

There was a time
When I met you
We were friends
Cracking jokes everyday

And before I knew it
you were here in my heart

It became hard to breathe
as my heart could not stop beating so fast
It always happened
Whenever I thought of you

It was just pure joy
every time I saw you

Then came a day
Things got awkward between us
And I did not know why
Our distance grew

I guess it was time to forget you
But oh how hard it was

It became especially so
When I heard you have someone you love
More than one year it's been
Since the day both of you dated

My heart ached
As I tried my best to break away

I could break away from computers
I could break away from so many other addictions
But why oh why couldn't I
just break away from these feelings?

All those times
just became memories

Sometimes I really wanted
to forget
But most of the time
I just decided to keep them inside a treasure box

Such that when I open it one day
I'll smile and not shed tears
