A Poem by Moonlight
"

This poem is about a daughter who lost her mother. She watches her mother being subject to the brutality of her father. This poem is an effort to highlight the emotions and feelings of this daughter

"

In this box

Decorated with no gold or silver

But only wooden carvings

Lies the one thing

That I hold most dear to me

The memories of the one person

I can’t bear to live without.

In this box

Rest the smiles and tears

The happiness and the grief

The love and the care

And a list of her worries.

The essence of her warmth
The beauty of her soul.

This box, encased in her love
is the only thing that I have left of her…

This box bordered with her tender touch

Showered with her kindness

On this box, used to linger

Her beautiful gaze

Her scent still hangs on it…

It reminds me of her radiant smile

Her eyes that shone with pride

When I won a prize

Her sternness when I played mischief

It reminds me of her

But this box

Also reminds me of the

Void in my life

Now that she is gone…

The tears I could not cry

The words I could not say

The promises that remained unfulfilled

The goodbyes I never said…

It reminds me of her last breath

Her last scream

Her last scar

This box reminds me

Of the last battle she fought

Against a beast; her husband; my father

The last glance she gave me

The last smile that lingered on her lips

The last bruise she would ever get…

This box reminds me

Of the pain of losing a loved one

The pain of daughter

Who lives with a deceased mother…

i just decided i was going to do a review for this poem now.... i couldnt think of anything and anytime i had thought about it... it just got me sad....
but now im writing this review while listening to a song that compliments it completly
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYs4CDW_wQg its name is "now your gone" but im listening to it.. and that song combined with this poem is making me so sad.. i love how you can make somebody go back into themselves.. and just look.. not really do anything.. just look at themselves and see if they are really what they want to be..

Thanks a lot Lizardo! :)
It makes one savor the moments of joy....the ones that can only ever lead to a sharp pain in your side at the thought of loss... you write with more than your heart.. its a beautifully delivered gift of emotion to the reader Moonlight Thanks

Wonderful sentiments of love for Mom the way it always shall be words left unsaid a careless whisper a gentle hug a kiss on her cheek your going to miss once she is gone and we can't add or subtract a thing from life count your blessings and memories never fade in the wind. Loved your detection to Mom in this write. A great love for Mom is shown here with love.

thanks a lot for your kind words smittyJass. :)
I love how descriptive this is, it flows beautifully and the imagery is subtle but powerful. This poem pulled me along from beginning to end, and the emotions are ripe in the last few stanzas. Just superb. Good work!

I don't have words. I can't find any flaw in your writing, technically or emotionally. It's a very deep piece, I don't know what to say, I just wish that no one shares this fate. The emotions are dripping from every line and words fit perfectly.
Thank you for sharing...:)
