You Don't Comprehend

You Don't Comprehend

A Poem by Laoidhigh Uilleag

Do you never think of me,
As I have thought of you?
Do I appear in your thoughts,
As you close your eyes?

I fail to want to close mine,
As I only imagine you.
For if I fall into the trap,
It inflicts a ravenous pain.

Do you ever see my smile,
That is in reply to your own?
Or how I walk past you,
Afraid to see you everyday?

I was told since early in life,
There was such thing as true love.
That you would know right then,
Which one had held your heart.

But what happens when the one,
You love won't love you back?
Is there ever such a thing as,
Being oblivious to someone's heart?

When I see your charcoal hair,
That is unique among the others.

As I feel your piercing smile,
Destroy all feelings but serenity.

As I remember your chocolate eyes,
Staring back at my loving glances.

You fail to realize I see more,
In those blank eyes that you give.
The fact you also feel this lust,
Caused my waiting for your thoughts.

But the second our eyes meet,
I feel the burning once more.
My eyes quickly heat up,
As the tears are being held back.

I've been strangled by puzzles,
Ever since you screwed me up.
How you came into my life,
Unknowing the effects you'd cause.

That I need to release from you,
And keep my thoughts in check.
But it seems completely impossible,
Since you hold the string I need to cut.

This happened to me. This entire poem. This happened to me. And I wrote a poem telling him this was the last creative piece I'd ever write for him. And I'm thrilled you wrote this poem, because it comforts me to know that this sort of thing doesn't just happen to me. Even if it didn't happen to you, I still love it. Good job.

I know the feeling of wanting what you can't have and the struggle to let go of that person. I was in that position for 3 years before I finally managed to let go. The words in this piece flow together and you've picked a topic that hits closer to home then most people would like to admit. The feelings come across so well I can feel myself falling back into the mindset I had during those 3 years. Congrats on a beauty piece of written art.

Very emotional. I could feel the struggle between wanting this person to want you back.
