The Fear of Courage

The Fear of Courage

A Poem by Reality
"

letting go of the old fear that holds me captive taking hold of the new

"

Fear takes the beat of my heart with its galloping force,
Heading for the same old gate, just like everyday,
But before it turns, Courage tries to take the reins,
Failing as I pull away, those open fields and wild horse will have to wait for another day
I cling tightly to Fear‘s mane of security, the saddle reminding me my body has never known what its like to be free,
We trot back and play this illusion again, in the dizzying colors of dirt and ground,
I can see opportunity all around, stretching far from this
Barnyard trail I insist on riding, followed by chickens and geese.
But today the fields seem sway me, the fresh air drifting on a sweet breeze
I can only dream of breathing, it invigorates me.
Fear is pulled from below me,
Adrenaline replacing my sensation of falling as I manage to
Grab Courage’s wild mane, we turn from that filthy worn gate,
Into the fields of Opportunity.
Worry begins to lose its grip as we fly with the wind
I am leaning into it, letting go of my inhibitions.
The sky is wide with colors before me, the barn had blocked this
Beautiful display, pink and purple and melting rays,
The sun it gleams as we chase its hopeful light, into the night, leaving
Fear far behind.

That is beautiful and I love the way you have horses representing fear and courage. You did a really fine job with this poem.
