Far Away

Sorry it's been such a long time since i posted anything... This is supposed to be a song, by the way, but i'm not so sure how it turned out, as this is my first time writing a song ^_^

The starlight

was a strange sight

seen between those bars.

And I reached out, 

thinking somehow

I could touch something so far. 

But you chained me, kept a good grip

And instead I fell down hard. 

"Stay here, my love" you said,

stay here my love. 

But my heart wept inside

And I kept wishing I could fly

Far away, far away 

to somewhere new, somewhere strange.

Where roses grew wild with their thorns

Thunder raged in the storms

Where I could take a breath, arms wide,

and embrace that world which would be mine,

jut that time. 

Just that time. 

Crystal walls 

all around. 

When will they fall 

crashing down?

When will the rushing stream break free

come crashing down

crashing down and take me

Far away, far away

to somewhere new, somewhere strange.  

Where roses grow wild with their thorns

Thunder rages in the storms. 

Where I take a breath, arms wide 

And embrace this world which is mine

just this time. 

Just this time. 

Far away, far away, 

somewhere new, somewhere strange

somewhere to ride the rising tide

somewhere to spread my wings wide.

And maybe someday 

I'll come wandering, wandering

back to my cage. 

See the place that once was mine. 

All mine.

And I'll think of those old times

when you were there for me. 

You kept me safe 

you kept me strong

But the cage was just a cage

all along. 

And even though it was nice inside,

in the end I just had to fly

Where the earth is beautiful, untame, 

because it grows without a chain. 

Where I can spread my arms out wide

and embrace the world which finally is 

mine

Where it doesn't matter who I am or what I've done

And keep reading cause this story's only just begun

Where the light is always on 

and the fears have gone.

A powerful poem. Hard to escape and find new places to be and roam. I'm a parent of four children. I worry for them everyday. But your words are true. You need to taste freedom. Dance on open beaches. Stand on cliff of mountain and see the hawk and eagle fly. I like the complete poem. The ending was very strong to the excellent poem.
