The Tether

The Tether

A Poem by S. K. Burke

I wonder how far you'll go
in boots buried by snow
with a submerged pontoon and an air balloon
thats tether simply wouldn't hold.

On a horse thats become too weak to run
with a car thats engine's done,
a kite that flew but when the crosswinds blew,
suddenly was gone.

You're gonna need another method of flight
'cause as far as you and I,
you're the sails of the fleet, I'm the ropes round the cleat
and that can only entail a goodbye.

I liked the below lines.
"You're gonna need another method of flight
'cause as far as you and I,
you're the sails of the sleet, I'm the ropes round the cleat
and that can only entail a goodbye."
The words had the feel of Texas in them. Direct and honest. My favorite kind. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
