Our Hero

Our Hero

A Poem by T. Wes Smith

My comrade, my brother, not only in arms, but by bond, we are saddened, broken with dismay, to see you cast away, up to the echelons of our heroes, we shed our tears to have lost you to this fight, But we rejoice, for you have ascended to the highest of heights, of this I insist, into nirvana, remembering the good days, you will be missed,

And we will carry on; weighing heavy on our hearts, inside each of us, your memory will live on

we have chosen to smile as we gaze upon the sun we know your smiling back until our journey here is done, you give each and every one of us strength to push forward and never feel sore, not to once dwell on the time you were taken from this world, though your departure from us has been premature, in your name, we find the motivation to finish this war.

And we will carry on; weighing heavy on our hearts, inside each of us, your memory will live on
