Ulimately Free

Ulimately Free

A Poem by SM Davis

To you on the outside
that look upon my person

I say this...

You look at me and what

do you see?

I am me.

I think, feel, and sleep

inside the ultimate freedom.

It is impossible to be

anyone but me...

So I ask again,

what do you see?

I am the woman

whose passion overflows

I love the world

like no one knows

I am free.

I am not you

nor want to be

I am me.

I am the one

who sees you

just as you are...

not what I want you to be.

Again, I ask...

what do you see?

I am completely free

who I was born to be

free of uncertainty

it is impossible to be

anyone but me

full of life

and unfulfilled dreams

there will always be

another chance

to be me

to live not what you see

but what I feel....

whatever that may be.

ultimate freedom

comes with it a price

i've paid the toll

not twice but thrice

I am me

what do you see

look closely and

you will see

you in me

impossibility

survived to live

another day

ultimately free

truth i speak

my heart rules

over my head

dishonesty dead

I am me...

loving you...

enough to be free

from wordy dread

ask me and you will see

passionately

I speak the truth

whatever it be

you may shun me

ultimately free

shame has

no hold on me

i live as I love

free to be me

whatever that may be

Ultimate freedom

starts with me

see what you see

in honesty

as it is

without judgement

then you will be

ultimately free

and together we can soar.

Author's Note

SM Davis
It started as one thing and turned into something else entirely different. I would rather be hated for who I am than to be liked for who I'm not. Judgement is for the weak. Those that know me, know that I speak my mind no matter who you are. The ability to speak your mind no matter what... is indeed the ultimate freedom. The ability to accept a person or situation for what it is without judgement. IT IS WHAT IT IS...my motto. Change is a natural occurrence ... accepting that change for what it is and not what you want it to be ... as well as accepting a person for who they are and not what you want them to be is where freedom to be yourself is found.

Just looked at this again having read 'I am...' It is as if they are two ways of expressing the same thing. In this one you seem to be writing with your head and heart in the other with your muscles and bones! I like this one but the other one I love for the sheer excitement of its raw power.

Simply superb. This is most really you. You do soar.

Great job, it flows really well and brims with honesty. It is a statement of inner strength, with the repeats and rhymes reading in a mesmerising way.

Wow,
I loved this piece. You're right...our poems are quite similar, although I find yours to have more grace. You are an exceptional writer, and human being. Rain..

I agree and this is an excellent motto to live by. Glad to see you are ultimately free :)
