RAIN RAIN COME SOON

Restlessly I wait for

A rain that will quench me

I am sure it will come

Never will it cheat me

Rarely do I think of a drought

All that news papers forecast

In their chamber they sat

Nay Sayers, the meteorologists

Repair my abode hey, wind

Adieu to you hey, poverty

Impish night, welcome the clouds

No time is left to receive down pours

Rain will come rain must come

After all, summer has left

It can not resist its turn

Nobody has ever defeated instincts.

Rain will come, rain must come

All those drops, sky can hold no more

Into my field sky will explode soon

Never will allow my little ones to die of poverty

Rarely colorful are my dreams

Azure is the sole source of hope

Installed my life and blood in agriculture

Nothing is new other than a good harvest

I am nothing but rain ,mud and sky…

Nothing can stop my longing…

God knows what a farmer want…

Rain rain come soon….

This tribute poem really catches the mood of a farmer whose very livelihood is dependent on the vagaries of the weather.

Linguistically there is quite a lot to celebrate in this poem. You have milked the meteorological lexis quite dry with all the terms we might expect - 'quench', 'forecast', 'clouds' and 'drops'. The list is endless and shows how rich the our language is for the type of weather the English people are always so happy to grumble about.

You've made good use of personification in describing the narrators relationship with the weather. He is speaking directly to the wind when he says, 'wind adieu to you'. The effect of this is to make him appear more vulnerable. When we read this the absence of rain is perhaps not due to climatic vagaries but to a personal slight.

The one aspect of this poem that I felt was lacking was in the structure. You clearly have a lot you want to say and you've got some lovely imagery in here. I'm particularly struck by the elegance of the phrase, 'Azure is the sole source of hope'. However, there's a certain awkwardness and lack of structure in the poem as a whole. It's certainly not a piece of formatted prose but it's not what I'd see as being a fully rounded poem. I'm sure one of our resident poets can put it much more elegantly than I just have.

There's a lot going for this poem. It's made me aware of an issue I'd not heard of before and it has some very nice imagery. If you perhaps tweak the structure, or look at that in future projects I can see some very successful poems coming from your pen.

oh, that is sad...........with the hope of rain there is expectation of good things. Without hope, we are dead men, whether literally or figuratively. I get an image of a farmer at his gravesite, mourners all around, his family devastated and alone, and then out of nowhere, the rain begins to fall......and fall, and fall......now that would be tragic irony. And often, the life sustaining raindrop is right around the bend. That is why suicide is so sad to me,,,,,better days lie ahead.

This has so many interpretations. I really enjoyed this and the way you are almost pleading for the "rain" to come into your day/life.
