A Stage Away From Walden (R2)

A Stage Away From Walden (R2)

A Poem by Stefon Napier

Let the lights grow, let the lights grow

They'll only cast orchestrated shadows

Don't be a victim of disbelief

A failure leaving truth behind.

In the stagnant silence

Only a stage away from Walden

Permit yourself

a dream.

Among the hush tones of  pines

and the admonishment of birds

Is this task called humanity.

This is a stunning poem, Stefon. Walden is a favorite of mine.. I love it for both its simplicities and complexities. I can understand anyone wishing to go live off to themselves in such a place. Love the ending.. we definitely are a task.

and I join my fellow reviewers in liking this,a thoughtful, well-constructed poem, especially the extended metaphor in the first stanza is impressive, then the excellent tercet to finish. Good one

A beautiful and positive poem. I wanted to know more. You danced softly on a good subject. We are far from Walden. Hard to regain the place where we knew what was right and wrong. A strong closing to the excellent poem.

I enjoyed this immensely. The undertones of nature laced with the meaning of humanity created the perfect balance in this poem. Well done!! Keep writing. :)
