Goodbye, sir.

Goodbye, sir.

A Poem by sndgrdn4
"

For great granddad

"

On that dreary, sunny day,

I found myself missing the one

I had once known,

but had slowly come forget.

There he lay. Peaceful. Silent.

Motionless. Without a word or movement,

he had reminded me of every moment in my life

that he acted in.

Moments that meant nothing,

that were as common as a blink,

but were now as precious and as delicate

as life itself. The smile engraved upon his

face reminded me of his authentic grin. His

calling card. His secret weapon in times like these.

For that one day, I had a chance to re-live my childhood,

before it faded back into my mind where it had lived for all

of these cruel years. He's gone now.

But he will not be forgotten.

To you sir: Though the wind may wash away your

laughter, or the years erode your image from my mind,

the impact you had on myself and everyone

else who has apart in this family name of ours will stay with me.

Up until I'm laying right there next to you.

wow, delicate yet enduring . . . the wind washes away the memory of the laughter yet it never truly leaves us, we tuck it away in dark corners when sad circumstances bring it to mind again

excellently drawn
