The Drug

I wrote this inspired by the memoir called Go Ask Alice. Even though drugs are bad, she inspired me to write about what good it did to her. :)

I feel so high in the clouds
everyone around me laughing around,
but I'm in another world
and is incredible,
it feels three-dimensional.
I inhale it, I taste it, is inside me all,
the ecstasy is making my mind numb
and yet, my imagination strong
and I can't stop.
The feeling it gives me
is a dangerous joy,
a catastrophe inside my body
that feels so marvelous.
Is dazzling inside my veins,
raising the rush in my blood,
is electrifying my heart
and I hear echoes in my voice,
screaming that I feel on top of the world,
then all of the sudden, the feeling is gone
and I go back to my
ordinary average world.

Drugs are what people who are not poets resort to to try and feel those ... those ... those moments of ecstasy when a poem reveals itself to be. Alas there can only be one poet every few decades or so. Was it Dylan or was it Hendrix? All the rest of humanity are left with ... the O.A.W. There is no point to such existances. Yet those who are poets ... die too early. Which means it was Hendrix.

I can relate to that feeling but knowing the awful things people are willing to do to get money to drugs, including killing their own family and friends, make me feel sick of even thinking about drugs. Your poem is beautiful , Yossi

Girl all I have to say is don't even dabble in drugs, I'm addicted to prescription meds and it's horrible! The poem was good, just stay away from that S*it!

This is good, and I can relate to this. The thing is we are led to temptation to make ourselves feel better. The thing people in general do wrong is they judge, but they must stop and think. What makes these kids or teens or adults do drugs? They wouldn't know, majority do it because of something they are lacking in their lives. Yet we have some who think it's right to just judge an-other for their actions. Excellent piece.

this is great! I love how you describe the high, "catastrophe inside my body" was a brilliant line. although, I think you may have ended it too quickly it was very suddden. but other than that its fantabulistic!!

i think you've captured the reality of drug usage in an accurate way and very poetic at the same time. Very nice. I enjoyed it.
