A Chapter by marie

the village square was more a circle of trees carefully tended over the years. They wove together above us as if they where arms embracing each other and blotting out the suns pure rays, the only light that came in was a beautiful green color. all the people that gathered in the square stared at me as they always do whenever i come into the village. my dark skin standing out like dirt on a white table cloth. they turned their heads as soon as i caught them looking at me.Amara smiled down at me reassuringly, silently telling me it was ok. we walked up to the largest building in the circle.
