And That Was It.

And That Was It.

A Poem by Sophia V

Gradual movements through the caressing clear water.

Nothing but chirping birds and the distancing sound of thunder.

each rumble energizing my spirit, and allowing me to take another step forward.

Steam rises from the water in which i stand,

and i stare in amazement and awe of all the beauty and serenity there is in the world.

For just a second.. I stood in a world with total and complete peace and purity.

Everything raw and in its most natural form. beauty.

I slowly slip the straps, then the entire top of my bathing suit off.

and finally.

I’m free.

I look at myself, natural and all, and I smile rather than billow,

because at that moment, everything was perfect.

Clumps of leaves attach themselves to me, and then drift away,

back and forth,

back and forth.

But eventually, even with the current, I reach the wall.

and suddenly,

I was no longer in deep serenity.

I stood in a dirty, stormy, regular old pool.

and that was it.
