Losing Something You Never Had

I feel like I lost something I never had...it sucks. An a.m. poem.

How can it be that I feel this way

About something that I just lost today?

 

But I've never had what I've just lost

Though soon I will know how much it has cost

 

It wasn't even mine, but I feel

It could have been mine, it could have been real

 

How can you lose something you've never even had?

Will you find it again or will it find you?

 

Someone found what I've been looking for

I cannot take this pain much anymore

 

I sit from a distance, quiet with hope

That they lose what I've lost, so I can cope

this reminds me of that someone that you have always wanted but will never get.
Everyone know's a person like this, the one who will always be your friend, but somehow never more. Maybe you lose thouch with them, maybe you still are close.
