Love Story

Love Story

A Poem by spence
"

A love story

"

It’s been a long hard journey
An adventure right from the start
Through ups and downs
Smiles and frowns
Tender touch and times spent apart
I can’t see what’s in front of us
If the past will let love flow
But, (if I must go), I want you to know
That I loved you with all of my heart

We came together, free spirits
No conditions were set, nor a goal
We both made mistakes
Do we have what it takes
To survive what we cannot control?
I wish that I’d done some things different
Been around when times became hard
But, (if we must part), I must speak my heart
You I cherished with all of my soul

An Angel was born our spirit lives on
Even if our love’s left behind
She’ll grow and she’ll know
That we both love her so
Beyond meanings yet set and defined
Yet regrets make me doubt for our future
Though in truth I cannot tell you why
But, (if this must die), my soul cannot lie:
I adored you with all of my mind

We trio now travel this lifetime
To cherish, to love and adore
World turns as we learn
To protect, care and yearn
For a family whose heart is worth more
Than the things we wish had been different
Our folly’s and freedom to roam
I hope not to go from the hearth of our home
My heart, soul and mind are all yours

Seldom do I see poetry that flows and rolls off the tongue with such ease as this. Your style reminds me a little of one of my favorite poets, Edgar Allen Poe--not in content, but in style. The message you convey is touching and heartfelt. Verrrry nice work, Spence.
