Learning to Heal

Learning to Heal

A Poem by spence
"

Ever felt like you're drowning beneath the weight of life? Remember how it feels when you're coming up for air? I'm sure we've all been there.

"

I’m learning to count the things that I’ve got

Before those that I have not

Or the things I feel I have lost

I’m making positive changes and not only for myself

A heart heals when it helps to heal the heart of someone else

I’m beginning to appreciate the things that are around me

Instead of rueing indignities

And the injustice I believe confounds me

I’ll face these tribulations and not only for myself

A mind heals when it helps to heal the mind of someone else

I’m starting to see beyond my own sorrows

I dare to look to tomorrow

On the road we must all follow

I no longer feel afraid and not only for myself

A soul is strong when it gives hope to the soul of someone else

. beautifully said ... this is so profound and so pragmatic ... and we know this experientially but it is amazing to read about it when it is expressed in such immensely poetic terms ... the last line of each stanza is especially brilliant and potent ... remarkably inspiring poetry ... i am lucky to have certain special people in my life ... and this is precisely why they are special ...

I'm so grateful to have found this website and with all it' s bountiful talent! You are certainly no exception, Spence. I must thank you for the simple wisdom you present so clearly, . Maybe it' s my current state of affairs, but I've been reading these at work then inconspicuously wiping tears away. You have no idea how healing your words are.

Dear spense,

Instructional in Life. A wonderful poem, my friend.

"I’m learning to count the things that I’ve got"

Wisdom, pure and simple.

"A heart heals when it helps to heal the heart of someone else"

"A soul is strong when it gives hope to the soul of someone else"

This is taking responsibility for life. And and you say, this is so healing. Profound wisdom, my friend.

Greatly enjoyed.

Best regards,

Rick

Emotional, deep, beautiful poem. Just what i expect of you Spence. The sense of truthful optimism not only beautifully contrasts with your previous works, but adds a magnificent sense of optimism and hope to the poem. As well, shows how having another person to help really does help with the healing process. Keep up the good work!
