I Was Never Faithful

I Was Never Faithful

A Poem by Alexandra

My fingers ran down your spine
Your eyes flickered
Look at me one more time
I heard you moved on
My bed is still the only place where you remain
Let me give you what you need before we part ways forever

Even though it was promised you’d never be like him
You ended up with a contactless name
Stripped of your essence

You were my ethereal
No space between us
No borders
Pressed skin on my lips
Filling all the holes from the last

And if this was such a mistake
It was the best thing we could’ve done

Well, as Piaf said, no regrets. Still, the pain in this one is palpable. It's full of disappointment, but I don't detect any bitterness. Each verse says a lot, but also leaves a lot unsaid. If things didn't turn out as hoped for, I'd say it could have been worse. A whole lot worse.
