Ojos Que No Ven, Corazón Que No Siente

Ojos Que No Ven, Corazón Que No Siente

A Poem by Alexandra

By 12:00 PM
You’ll find me in the corner of a Starbuck’s booth
Drinking black coffee
With glazed eyes
Wondering if all I saw in you was a lie

By 3:00 PM
I’m on my way home with the biggest smile on my face
Listening to music that helps this pain drift away
Scream lyrics to bands we used to listen to
And hope that you’ll cherish those moments like I did

By 5:00 PM
I’m trying to make a difference
Running two miles thinking of how I’m going to be better
Because I will get better
As long as the extra skin around my stomach goes away

By 7:00 PM
The washer will turn
I’ll talk to Kenneth about work
And how s****y his breakup with Anna was
It’s been four months
I just wish he would move on
For his sake

By 9:00 PM
The surgeon will pick me up for our second date
To think we used to work together side by side operating
Now we’re both in a booth ordering drinks and food
He wants this
So, why don’t I?

By 11:30 PM
I’ll be at the bar with my friends
Drinking to heart ache and prosperity
Making new connections
And basking in the ambience of being with people who love me
And I love them too

By 2 AM
I’ll sink in bed
Groggy
Think of you one last time
And how I hope you had a great day, too
