The game that is love

The game that is love

A Poem by GorgEOus NiGhtMarE

I find myself, once again, wrapped in the embrace of confusion and simple- yet difficult- questions.
Love.
People speak of you with such longing, passion and desire.
People speak of you with such sadness, hate and regret.
Two sets of emotions that are so different,
yet they complement each-other so well.
People say love is not a game.
But if you think about it, it really is.
You lay down your heart and risk the sadness that follows for a chance of happiness and serenity.
You bet your emotions with either a chance of winning or losing
But some games you shouldn't play so freely- without any consideration for the other players.
If you put your heart of the table, you shouldn't play knowing your going to shatter the heart of the person who fell for you.
You can't just toy with people's emotions out of boredom!
When you play the game you should be in it heart and soul
Not in it for superficial objects and sex
What is the point of a relationship without love?
What is the point of an open ended relationship ?
What is the point of a relationship just for fun?
Love used to mean so much.
But slowly it is becoming nothing but a bittersweet word told by liars who have no intrest in the warm feeling of love.
Liars that only desire to quench their thirst in the game that is love.

A tiny amount of sprucing up and the whole poem would become so much more powerful. You have done a magnificent job, and you're 100 percent right...Love is not a game. We should not play with others hearts.
Well done, and pen on

People speak of you with such longing, passion and desire.
People speak of you with such sadness, hate and regret.

Wonderful juxtaposition...it's rare that someone can step far enough away from the game you describe to see this duality...well done.

Wow I loved the ending here, Liars that only desire to quench their thirst in the game that is love. It made for a perfect ending to an amazing piece of poetry. Great job. :)
