Crude Vampire

The dire needs of our kind,
Shall not save me from this sign
They walk the night and they feed,
The dead that live, oh yes indeed
They move amongst us undetected,
That is how I became infected
Now I walk the night as one of them,
I take the women and the men
There's some discretion but no remorse,
As I take your blood to quench my thirst
When I'm done feeding I'll leave the corpse.

I thought one of the lines felt forced the "Now I walk the night as one of them," line. I also thought it ended to abruptly, like it needed at least one more line. Congrats on getting it published!!! I did like it

This is my kind of vampire story. Cold and heartless. The new vampires sweet with kindness and emotion make me want to watch cartoons. I like the feel and emotion in the poem. A strong story of a real vampire.
