Peace

Peace

A Poem by AMetaphoricalSoul

I said all that I could say
Still you turned and walked away
I always knew you would not stay
Yet my love for you was underway
As you can see I'm not okay
My vibrant world has turned to grey
I let my feelings drift astray
From this life that I betray
My heart expired, left to decay
You never loved me anyway
I wish there was another way
To hold the darkness safe at bay
But my anchor is aweigh
Sailing off into the fray
I left behind my soul today
No emotion left to convey
Just a hollow, sad cliche
A spirit drenched in cold dismay
A memory stuck on replay
My dead resolve left on display
My escape is underway
No hand left to overplay
My mind now a vacant doorway
A morbid price that I must pay
So I could forget yesterday
That time you took a holiday
And left me here in disarray
An example of your harsh display
You left behind a castaway
A burden that no scale can weigh
I'll let you go and I will pray
That you will find your peace someday
