The Declaration of Dependence

The Declaration of Dependence

A Poem by starryeyeddd

Unnoticed manipulation

silently inhibits my respiration

sowing the seeds of my desperation

to reap the fruits of a deadly fixation

An unnoticed slow asphyxiation

I die a small, quiet death

with every undone expectation

Please take over my mind

I extend an open invitation

If I disappear and become someone else

will I earn a taste of your sweet sedation?

Can we please have an altercation?

Because it’s only after confrontation

that you fleetingly relieve my agitation

it’s my only compensation

I am asking for too much

extinguish my necessitation

to preserve my own ideation

this is no time for self-preservation

a self-imposed distillation

The language we speak is unspoken

an uninterrupted conversation

I hold my breath, no exhalation

refuse outside attempts at resuscitation

Please provide a list of all your grievances

I will sort out the complications

I surrender to your noxious notion

I delight in the suffocation

So I hereby declare my dependence

and profess my dedication

to your divine domination

a quiet end to aspiration

Forever indebted to your salvation

So glad you could stay forever
