Study Partner

A Poem by Cory

I can measure your concentration by your drink.
The harder you study, the more you sip.
The less you notice it.
You've been trying to drink your empty Coke for the past half hour.
Please look up. Look at me.
I am here across the table.
Let me get another drink for you.

What I enjoy:

1) The first line takes the reader's attention.
2) I like the atmosphere that is created by having almost all lines be sentences of their own.
3) "Let me get another drink for you." Subtle yet simple.

What could change:

1) You could try for a different organization of lines where you make two or more stanzas out of the existing one stanza.
