Scent of Death

Scent of Death

A Poem by Stephanie
"

Another product of my creative writing class.

"
Colorful, sweet, intoxicating
Beautiful on the surface
Its true nature concealed like an iceberg
Roots stretching deep into the earth
Hiding its real self
A flower, yes. Just not so sweet
Death lurks beneath delicate petals
Disguised as white innocence
Curiosity will lead to your demise
The flora claims you for eternity
Don’t be frightened as you fade into silence
Look through darkened vision in amazement
That the lily tricked another simple soul

A very nice description of the scent of death. I like the use of flowers and the gentle journey described in the poem. Last line made this poem complete.
"Look through darkened vision in amazement
That the lily tricked another simple soul "
Thank you for the outstanding poem.

This is a great piece; it oozes symbolism and style... the flow is absolutely effortless. Kudos.

Oooh, this is quite lovely! I could just read it over and over again. You've done a wonderful job with word play, word choice, various methods of writing. Simply wonderful.

There is an elegance to your poison... and in beauty you confess the darkness that lies underneath.. waiting to devour... Powerful poetry! (You do have class, and I'm thrilled you do!)
