Bones and Steel

By

Leslie Golding Mastroianni

I’m in my car listening to Stevie Wonder singing “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”

Delivered is such a lovely word

Word about souls being delivered to heaven and God

God accepts souls delivered with open arms.

Arms bring life, carry groceries, woman clenches her arms in labor.

Labor Day parade in Pittsburgh"in USA the largest, most attended

Attended because men sweated and strained in the steel mills.

Mills no longer there but the steel is part of us;

 All of us from Pittsburgh have steel in our bones.

Bones Ezekiel saw in a vision; God asks him to breathe life into them.

“Them Bones,” an African American spiritual, sung by The Delta Rhythm Boys

Boys they are not, they are men, but they sing their hearts out just the same

Same as Stevie Wonder.

This poem flows, to the heavens, back to the Earth, and back to the heavens, to the mothers, to the mills, to the soul of music, finally to the wonderful Stevie wonder! I really enjoyed the technique used in this poem! Perhaps I shall try it sometime. Added to my favorites
