Now daybreak floods the earth with light.

Light is what we see and what we need

Light, new light, brings the seed

Of hope.

No matter how black the night was: bad dreams, the baby that wouldn’t “settle”

The sun abides

prides itself on its power.

The cold ones will spread themselves out on a bench, warmed;

The tired ones will go home, sleep, and find strength;

The drooping wildflowers will, in the fields, stand up;

The frightened ones facing the wall will be cheered.

The rising sun brings happiness to the farmer

Farmer must work hard because there has been rain

Rain floods and turns all into mud

Mud seizes tractor wheels and won’t let go.

Go to church and thank the Lord for this sun

Sun is a huge male force bringing love.

 

Love to fertilize our bodies and minds

Minds and bodies are satisfied, yes

Yes but the soul needs the sun most of all

All is well, all is good, and we rise, never fall.
