The Seeds of Peril

The Seeds of Peril

A Poem by Joanna Maharis
"

The Seeds of Peril

"
The earth's blood gushes
back through the spinal tap
belonging to the Gulf of Mexico.
Mothering the life within these stricken waters
are heroic hands who fish out the geese,
and cleanse their bodies to rid them of the
black teas immersed all over their heads, feathers
and their entire bodies.
What's a nation to do when our land is so askew?
The seeds of peril breed contempt for those who
carelessly blew the lines so the mighty opportunists
could allow their drams of greed to fortify no matter
what the cost to land and dreams.

Oh you know I love prose, my favorite kind of poem and I love the statement you make hear... you use class but speak in a sugarless tone... Nations leaders from around the globe all put their interests first no matter the impact on the people who put them in power or the environment they continue to destroy.

Very elegantly stated. The spill will continue to plague the ocean for another century. A hundred trillion dollars would not be enough to clean it up (if it could be done, which it can't) and the hurricane season will move the oil around the eastern seaboard, Maine could have oily lobsters by the end of the year. It is a disaster of Biblical proportions, a catastrophe and a tradgedy. Will man never learn that money cannot be eaten? This was a fine write.
