What it is, and what it should be...

                                    A Christmas Message

With jingle bells and credit cards,

To the shopping malls we go,

We charge and charge without regard,

Dashing through the snow,

While a humble little Manger Boy,

We seldom speak his name,

If and when we do, do we remember why he came?

 

 

Now, we put up our Christmas trees,

Feeling oh, so, bright,

Cook a great big dinner,

And feast this very night,

On Christmas plums and puddings,

And tasty Christmas meat,

But do we stop and think of those,

Who have no food to eat?

 

 

So, Christmas time is not about,

How much we deck the halls,

With all our presents, and our lights,

And shiny Christmas balls,

It’s just about a message,

We were given way back when,

The Christmas Child’s Message,

Peace On Earth, Good Will To Men…

i do love Christmas Trees....but too many lights in general, too many decorations and too much money has made Christmas lose so much of its meaning...

i long for the simpler days...
and I really like and agree with this poem...

For us non religious folk it is an excuse to over indulge and shower our loved ones with gifts, these expressing our gratitude for them sharing their lives with us.

Well since you're non religious, I guess the point would be you don't need a holiday you don't believe in, in order to express those sentiments. But thanks for reading ! Enjoy the Season!
