Mirage

Mirage

A Poem by streetrose

Someday, her laughter won’t hang in the air

the leaves won’t remind you of her dimmed eyes

The night sky won’t resemble her silken locks

No longer will her voice haunt your subconscious

You won’t cry when that song comes onto the radio

Her scent will slowly fade away

You’ll get new sheets, new clothes, new memories

You won’t think of her when you’re drinking alone

No; someday, all of her will fade from you

Leaving only a small twinkle in your eye

To remind you that she was real, and she was yours
