The World We Know

The World We Know

A Poem by Archangel Gabriel

The World We Know

We are imperfect creatures; led to sin.

So must we surrender our souls to our God?

Must we throw ourselves upon his great mercy,

if we do not desire to burn forever in hell?

But what if our God does not exist?

What if Darwin ‘nailed it’

and it’s a big dog eat small dog world,

where power is money and control?

Where life is cheap,

where the dollar and the gun talk

and people are simply commodities,

expendable,

to be manipulated,

used,

exploited,

expelled,

and executed?

We are imperfect creatures,

that at least we know.

This poem is really something precious. Each and every line is so incredibly written!
One of the best that I have read here.

This poem is really something I could call thought of a feeling that is full of uncertainty.
But I know God do exist. The only conditional is that the world is made gory by the cruelty nature of me that come from our self strong desire.

and the choices ours to make eh!? i think that God speaks outside the ring we make and put ourselves in ... in fact i don't think He even entered the stadium ;)

A quick look at our world nowadays. especially America. I guess that's where faith comes into play. If hell has been unleashed on earth, maybe there will be a heaven after death?

This is the best way to present a political commentary in the USA these days -- as thought-provoking questioning, rather than a hard-and-fast opinion. Anyone who says (politically) "this is that" will be attacked by the "other side," period. I agree with what you are alluding to about how power & money & strength just seems to roll over the mere struggling human-like among us. Most of all, I love your ending, which is so noncommittal & understated. The most I care to comment on -- humans are often self-absorbed & lacking in integrity in so many ways, but we all have these woeful afflictions, so no judgment intended! *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie

Yes, Wordman, lets hope there is a God. I used to feel sure but now I'm on the fence. But I often remind myself that when trouble comes or tragedy strikes, God is the first one I ask for help. Sometimes I think He hears and sometimes I don't, but I need something to believe in to help me through. It was instilled in me how perfect God is supposed to be and maybe the world He created is, but it is said that He created man in his image, IF so, it must mean just our inner body parts, for we all look different on the outside and as for our character, personality, demeanor and actions, it is true, we are imperfect creatures. I would hate to think His image is the same as ours.

If anything was 'nailed' here, its your poem. You've nailed the way of the world in this day and time. Sometimes I think God got so disappointed that he gave up and moved on.

getting older like me
Without a doubt we are imperfect creatures and where once religion instilled fear in me, it no longer does. We live in a world where money has become God and life for many in some places is very cheap indeed. Sad reality. Religion can provide comfort for some, but when you lose that faith, you see the world for what it is.
